CC Sabathia pitched eight strong innings and Randy Winn hit a three-run homer as the New York Yankees downed the Baltimore Orioles, 4-1, on Monday.
Nick Swisher added an RBI single among three hits on the night for the Yankees, who have won five of six.
Sabathia (4-1) allowed one run on six hits while walking two and striking out a pair. The hefty left-hander kept the Orioles off balance all night in lowering his ERA to 2.74.
Baltimore grabbed the early lead when Matt Wieters reached Sabathia for his third homer of the season in the second.
Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie kept the powerful New York lineup off the board until the fourth, when Swisher drove in a run to tie it up and Winn followed Brett Gardner's single with a three-run blast to deep center - his first homer of the season.
Guthrie (0-4) lasted seven innings while allowing four runs and six hits.
Joba Chamberlain gave Mariano Rivera a break in the ninth inning, striking out one to pick up his first save of 2010.
