Cleveland, which entered the game batting just .223, erupted for a season-high 18 hits and also had a season best in runs. Kearns remained hot and is 6-for-10 with two homers and six RBIs in the first two games of the series.

Mitch Talbot (3-1) kept the Angels’ bats quiet one night after they had a season-high 15 hits, including a dozen off Cleveland starter David Huff.

Making just his fifth career start, Talbot allowed one run on six hits over 6 1/3 innings for his third consecutive victory.

Shin-Soo Choo’s single in the sixth made it 4-1, before Kearns cleared the bases with a double in eighth for the 7-1 advantage.

Brandon Wood hit his first homer of the campaign for the Angels in the ninth inning.
