Brett Cecil was dominant over seven-plus innings and Adam Lind drove in a pair of runs as the Toronto Blue Jays rolled to a 6-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.
Cecil (4-2) allowed just two singles over 7 1/3 scoreless innings to win his second straight start. He struck out three and walked two.
Vernon Wells, Lyle Overbay and John Buck each played a role in the Blue Jays’ four-run seventh inning that blew open the game.
Lind opened the scoring in the frame with a double, Wells singled in a run, Overbay brought one in on a groundout and Buck was safe on an error that allowed Wells to score.
Angels starter Joe Saunders (3-6) took the loss in allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Lind had a sacrifice fly in the first and Buck added an RBI single in the fourth for the 2-0 advantage.
Torii Hunter, Hideki Matsui and Kevin Frandsen recorded the Angels’ lone hits in the contest.
