Evan Longoria homered as part of a four-run first inning and David Price used the big cushion to pick up his AL-leading 10th victory as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Atlanta Braves 10-4 on Tuesday at Turner Field.

The Rays padded the early lead with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh against Atlanta's bullpen.

Price (10-2) wasn't as sharp as he has been at times this season – he allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and walked three in five innings – but he was good enough to get the win and move ahead of New York's Phil Hughes for the league lead.

Sean Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a two-run double in the first inning. Longoria added an RBI double to go with his two-run homer, while Carlos Pena and Ben Zobrist drove in two runs apiece for the Rays, who kept pace with the Yankees atop the AL East.

Braves starter Kenshin Kawakami (0-9) again failed to earn his first victory of the season and instead of poor run support, was poor defense shouldered some of the blame this time.

Kawakami allowed seven hits, three walks and five runs over five innings, but only two of the runs were earned thanks to four Atlanta errors.

Six players had multiple hits for the Braves, who had 13 for the game but were just 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base. Chipper Jones hit a solo homer in the eighth off Lance Cormier, his fourth of the year.
