Rookie first baseman Ike Davis hit his first major league homer and Hisanori Takahashi -- pressed into service after John Maine suffered an apparent arm injury -- pitched three solid innings of relief in leading the New York Mets to a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves Friday night.

David Wright drove in a pair of runs and Jason Bay added an RBI for the Mets’ fourth win in five games.

Takahashi (1-1) replaced Maine in the fourth inning and struck out seven for his first major league win.

The Braves almost tied the game in the ninth inning when Nate McLouth’s bid for a three-run homer hooked foul off Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez, who earned his second save in as many nights.

The Mets snapped a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning when Jose Reyes, batting third for the first time in his career, and Bay had back-to-back triples against Braves starter Kenshin Kawakami (0-3).
