Scott Hairston Jr. hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer and Clayton Richard tossed six scoreless frames to help the San Diego Padres win for the fourth straight time with Fridays’ 3-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Richard (1-2) scattered four hits while striking out eight batters before being lifted for Hairston, whose seventh-inning blast made it 3-0.
Heath Bell worked the ninth inning for his seventh save.
Chase Headley got the Padres on the board with a sacrifice fly in the third inning that plated Tony Gwynn.
Milwaukee starter Dave Bush (1-2) was saddled with the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits in seven innings.
The Brewers were shutout for the second straight game in losing their fourth in a row.
