Josh Thole homered with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting the New York Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday.
Ike Davis also went deep and starting pitcher Pat Misch pitched eight strong innings for the Mets, who had lost six of their previous seven home games.
After Mike Hessman struck out, Thole swatted a 3-1 pitch from Tyler Clippard (11-7) over the wall in right field for his third shot of the year.
The homer made a winner of Hisanori Takahashi (10-6), who struck out four over two scoreless innings.
New York took a 1-0 lead with one out in the fourth inning when rookie Davis belted Jordan Zimmermann's first pitch over the right-field wall for his 19th home run of the season.
Misch made it stand until the seventh. With one out, Mike Morse deposited a 2-1 offering into center-field seats for a solo blast, his 14th of the campaign.
Zimmermann lasted six innings, allowing one run and three hits with three strikeouts. Misch also surrendered one run and three hits, walking one and striking out a career-high 10.
