Curtis Granderson went deep twice to reach the 30-homer plateau for the second time in his career, leading the New York Yankees past the visiting Los Angeles Angels 9-3 Wednesday night.

Granderson's 30th of the season was a three-run shot in the first inning off Angels pitcher Garrett Richards (0-1), who was shelled in his major league debut. Granderson added a solo shot off Richards in the fifth to complete his third multi-homer game of the season as New York snapped a three-game losing streak.

Wednesday's win ended a bizarre slump for the Yankees, who had lost each of their last six games against pitchers making their major league debuts.

Richards didn't stand much of a chance in this one, charged with six runs on six hits over five innings. Joel Pineiro came on in relief and surrendered a two-run homer to Robinson Cano in the seventh inning, Cano's 19th of the campaign.

That was more than enough run support for Ivan Nova (11-4), who ran his personal winning streak to seven games. Nova allowed three runs on five hits during his six-inning stint.

Peter Bourjos' fifth home run of the year was the lone bright spot for the Angels, who lost for just the second time in six games.
