Derek Jeter had a three-run home run and five RBIs and CC Sabathia notched his 19th win of the season as the New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the visiting Toronto Blue Jays with a 9-3 win Sunday.

Jeter’s third-inning blast – his first since July 25 – staked Sabathia to an early four-run lead. He added a two-run single to cap a four-run eighth as New York won its fourth straight game and extended its lead over Boston to 1 1/2 games atop the AL East. The Texas Rangers rolled to an 11-4 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday.

Sabathia (19-7) struck out 10 in 7 1/3 innings to beat Toronto for the seventh consecutive time and reach at least 19 wins for the third year in a row.

The second-winningest pitcher in the majors, Sabathia improved to 59-22 in his three seasons in New York.

Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer and Alex Rodriguez added a solo shot – the 628th of his career – to move within two of tying Ken Griffey Jr. for fifth place on the all-time list.

Jose Bautista clubbed his major league-leading 40th homer and Edwin Encarnacion had three hits and an RBI double for Toronto. Bautista became the first Blue Jay to hit 40 homers in back-to-back seasons since Carlos Delgado in 1999-2000.

Blue Jays starter Brett Cecil (4-8) absorbed his fourth straight loss by surrendering five runs in six innings.
