Kevin Kouzmanoff had three hits and two RBIs and Jordan Pacheco also drove in a pair of runs as the Colorado Rockies posted a 6-3 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Wednesday afternoon in the season finale for both teams.
The Rockies, who halted a seven-game skid against the Giants, concluded a 3-4 road trip with just their third win in their final 14 contests. San Francisco, which had its six-game home winning streak snapped, finished the campaign with six losses in nine games.
Giants left fielder Pat Burrell received a rousing ovation from the home crowd at AT&T Park after exiting what may have been his final game with the club. Burrell, who got the start despite a bad foot and went 1-for-3, took the field to start the seventh inning but was summoned to the dugout by manager Bruce Bochy in order to receive the accolades.
Colorado scored twice in the both the first and fifth innings to build a 4-0 lead against rookie lefthander Eric Surkamp (2-2), who worked 4 2/3 frames. Surkamp made his sixth career start after Bochy decided late Tuesday night not to use Matt Cain.
Kouzmanoff and Pacheco delivered RBI singles in the fifth. After San Francisco rallied for three runs in the sixth to close within one, Kouzmanoff plated Mark Ellis with a double before racing home on Pacheco's base hit two batters later for a 6-3 advantage.
Rookie southpaw Drew Pomeranz (2-1) yielded three runs over 5 2/3 innings in his fourth major-league outing. Rafael Betancourt worked a scoreless ninth for his eighth save in 12 opportunities.
