Edgar Renteria drove in Jay Bruce with a single in the bottom of the 13th inning as the Cincinnati Reds ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.

Bruce drew a leadoff walk against closer Brian Wilson (6-3), the Giants’ sixth reliever. One batter later, Jose Arredondo (2-3), who threw a perfect 13th, singled in his first-ever plate appearance. Renteria ended it when he hit a 1-2 slider down the right-field line.

Renteria came through after Cincinnati bungled a bases-loaded, one-out opportunity in the 10th. The threat ended when Giants’ left fielder Nate Schierholtz caught a shallow fly ball off the bat of rookie Todd Frazier and threw out Joey Votto at the plate.

It was a rare-one run loss for San Francisco, which entered a major league-best 28-12 in such games.

Eli Whiteside had a game-tying RBI double in the eighth and Aubrey Huff drove in a run for San Francisco. Carlos Beltran also added an RBI - his first with the Giants - but finished 1-for-5 with three strikeouts.
