Franklin Gutierrez scored on shortstop Cliff Pennington's throwing error in the 10th inning as the visiting Seattle Mariners posted a 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.

Rookie Dustin Ackley belted a solo homer in the seventh and Adam Kennedy added insurance with an RBI double in the 10th for Seattle, which has won three in a row and four of its last five.

All-Star Brandon League (1-4), who was unable to nail down the save in the ninth, picked up the win after yielding one run on two hits.

Jamey Wright retired the side in the 10th for his first career save.

Andrew Bailey (0-1) permitted two runs on as many hits in one inning to take the loss.

Kurt Suzuki launched a solo homer in the eighth and Coco Crisp tied the game 2-2 with an RBI single in the ninth for Oakland, which has dropped nine of its last 13 games.
