Melky Cabrera and Eric Hosmer delivered back-to-back home runs in the 14th inning and Brayan Pena added a three-run shot to carry the Kansas City Royals to a 12-7 road victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday.

With the game tied going into the 14th, Cabrera belted a 1-0 changeup from Dave Bush over the left-center wall. Hosmer followed by blasting a first-pitch curveball over the center field fence. Later in the frame, Pena went deep to center with two on and two out.

The Royals were down 7-6 in the ninth inning, but tied it on an upper-deck shot by Alex Gordon off Rangers closer Neftali Feliz.

It was Feliz’s third blown save in 10 days, although Bush (0-1) took the loss. Kansas City reliever Blake Wood (2-0) picked up the victory.

The game started out as a slugfest. The Royals scored three runs in each of the first two innings, but the Rangers answered with five in the first and two in the second.
