Red Sox 12, Indians 1: Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered and drove in five runs as the Red Sox won their third consecutive game.
Boston used two big innings to win the final game of the four-game set at Fenway Park. The Red Sox scored four times in the first, then added six runs in the seventh.
Saltalamacchia blasted his fifth homer of the year, a two-run shot in the seventh. Will Middlebrooks hit a two-run homer, his fourth of the year, in the third.
David Ortiz started the first-inning rally with a two-out walk off Cleveland starter Justin Masterson (1-3). Middlebrooks singled home two runs and Daniel Nava and Saltalamacchia added run-scoring singles to put the Red Sox ahead 4-0.
Ahead 6-1 entering the seventh, Boston sent nine hitters to the plate.
After Ortiz singled home Dustin Pedroia, Nava’s double plated Adrian Gonzalez and Middlebrooks. Saltalamacchia capped the scoring with his homer.
Boston starter Daniel Bard (3-4) benefited from the uprising, holding Cleveland to six hits and one run in six innings, walking four and striking out two.
The Indians lost for the fifth time in six games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nava finished with two hits and three RBIs. … Middlebrooks scored three times and drove in two runs. … Asdrubal Cabrera drove in Cleveland’s only run, drawing a bases-loaded walk in the third.
