Athletics 3, Yankees 2: Brandon Moss drove in Yoenis Cespedes with a single in the bottom of the ninth to give host Oakland its major-league leading 10th walk-off victory and its sixth win in seven games since the All-Star break.

New York went to right-hander Cody Eppley (0-1) with one out in the ninth and Cespedes greeted him with a single to center. Jonny Gomes followed with an infield single in front of Moss, who sent a line drive to right, scoring Cespedes just in front of the throw from Andruw Jones.

Cespedes went 4-for-5 while Brandon Inge and Jemile Weeks each drove in a run for the Athletics, who moved to a season-high five games over .500 (49-44).

Robinson Cano led off the top of the ninth against All-Star closer Ryan Cook (4-2) and took an outside fastball the opposite way, sending a line drive just over the wall down the left field line to knot it at 2-2. It was the 22nd home run for Cano, who had extended his hitting streak to 23 games with a single in the seventh.

The late-game fireworks overshadowed the work done by Oakland starter Tommy Milone, who struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven scoreless innings. The left-hander surrendered six hits and did not walk a batter, lowering his ERA to 0.90 in eight home starts.

Oakland got to Ivan Nova in the third inning, pushing a run across when Coco Crisp led off with a triple and came in on Weeks’ sacrifice fly.

The Athletics made it 2-0 in the fourth when Moss and Inge bashed back-to-back doubles deep off the wall in right-center.

Nova scattered nine hits over 6 2/3 innings and was charged with two runs while walking one and striking out six.

New York pulled within a run in the eighth inning, when Russell Martin greeted left-hander Jerry Blevins with a line-drive homer into the left field seats, his 10th blast.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Milone threw first-pitch strikes to 24 of the 26 batters he faced. … New York RF Nick Swisher was forced to leave the game in the seventh inning with a hip injury. … The Yankees had a franchise-record streak of 43 straight games scoring at least three runs come to an end. … New York is the only team in the majors to not have a win when trailing after eight innings (0-32).
