Rays 2, Angels 0: Jeremy Hellickson outdueled Zack Greinke as he combined with three relievers on a four-hit shutout as visiting Tampa Bay blanked Los Angeles for the second straight day.

Hellickson (6-6) limited the Angels to a pair of singles over six innings as he posted his second straight win after going nine starts without a victory. The 25-year-old, who struck out five without a walk, has yielded three earned runs or less in 17 of his last 19 outings.

Kyle Farnsworth and Joel Peralta each tossed a perfect inning before Fernando Rodney escaped a jam in the ninth, getting pinch hitter Albert Pujols to ground into a game-ending double play for his 30th save in 31 opportunities.

Acquired from Milwaukee on Friday, Greinke (0-1) pitched well in his Angels debut, allowing two runs and seven hits in seven frames. The former American League Cy Young Award winner, who is winless since June 27, walked one and struck out eight in falling to 2-5 lifetime against the Rays.

Tampa Bay snapped a scoreless tie in the sixth inning, when Sam Fuld reached on a fielder's choice and came around to score on Matt Joyce's single three batters later. The Rays added another run in the seventh as Carlos Pena hit a leadoff double, went to third on a groundout and scored on one of Greinke's two wild pitches on the day.

Maicer Izturis recorded two of the four hits by the Angels, who completed a 5-4 homestand and saw their lead over Detroit for the second wild-card spot in the AL shrink to one game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay has won eight of its last nine meetings with Los Angeles. ... Angels rookie OF Mike Trout was a late scratch from the starting lineup due to a left knee contusion. The 20-year-old suffered the injury when he ran into the outfield wall in the third inning of Saturday's loss. ... Los Angeles RHP Dan Haren experienced stiffness in his back following Friday's victory but is expected to make his next start Wednesday at Texas.
