Brewers 4, Braves 1: Norichika Aoki doubled home two runs in the seventh to snap a tie as host Milwaukee ended Atlanta’s five-game winning streak.

The Brewers, trying to muster a late-season surge in the National League wild card race, rallied from a 1-0 deficit with four runs in the seventh. Milwaukee has won 16 of its past 21 and sits five games behind St. Louis for the second wild card spot.

Atlanta wasted a strong start from Mike Minor and dropped 6 1/2 games behind Washington in the National League East. The Braves, though, lead the NL wild card race by 6 1/2 over the third-place Los Angeles Dodgers.

Atlanta reliever Jonny Venters (5-4) gave up a hit and a walk in the seventh, then threw wildly to third base on Jeff Bianchi’s bunt. Pinch runner Eric Farris scored on the error to tie the game.

Aoki followed two hitters later with a double off the wall in center off Chad Durbin, plating Jean Segura and Bianchi to make it 3-1. Jose Veres (4-4) got the win with a scoreless seventh. Aoki and Martin Maldonado had two hits apiece for the Brewers, who finished with only four hits.

The Braves scored in the fifth on Andrelton Simmons’ grounder, plating Dan Uggla. Minor made it stand up through his 5 2/3 innings, allowing two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Martin Prado finished with three hits for Atlanta but was thrown out at third base twice.
