Reds 5, Phillies 4: Zack Cozart hit a go-ahead home run off Philadelphia closer Jonathan Papelbon to lead off the ninth and National League Central leader Cincinnati snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Phillies.

The Reds, who have won nine of 12, were held scoreless through six innings before rallying to score three runs and chase starter Cliff Lee in the seventh.

The Phillies twice rallied to tie it, but a Reds rookie answered with a solo homer on each occasion. Todd Frazier hit a two-out blast off Antonio Bastardo for a 4-3 lead in the eighth. After Kevin Frandsen's RBI triple tied it again in the bottom of the inning, Cozart launched the first pitch from Papelbon (3-5) into the left-field seats for the decisive run.

The Phillies couldn't muster another rally against Aroldis Chapman, who struck out Chase Utley to strand the tying run at third for his 30th save. Chapman has converted 22 straight save opportunities, one shy of the franchise record.

The Reds had a 3-1 lead when starter Homer Bailey left with one out in the seventh, but Jimmy Rollins' two-run double off Sean Marshall tied it at 3. All three runs (two earned) were charged to Bailey, who allowed seven hits and struck out six.

Jonathan Broxton (3-3) picked up the win despite allowing Frandsen's RBI triple in the eighth.

Lee allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out nine.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reds C Devin Mesoraco sat out the first of a two-game suspension stemming from an argument with umpire Chad Fairchild on July 30. Mesoraco initially was suspended for three games but had his penalty reduced by one game on appeal. … The Phillies had won 15 of 16 against the Reds dating to the 2010 playoffs. … Frandsen went 3-for-4 and made a pair of highlight-reel plays at third base for the Phillies.
