Indians 8, Royals 5: Jose Lopez drove in three runs and Jason Kipnis had three hits and two RBIs as host Cleveland snapped a three-game losing streak.

Lonnie Chisenhall homered in his first at-bat of the year to spark a five-run third inning to help the Indians remain one-half game ahead of the Chicago White Sox atop the American League Central.

Josh Tomlin (2-2) came off the disabled list to make his first start in three weeks and allowed four runs on four hits in five innings. Chris Perez pitched a perfect ninth for his 17th save.

Eric Hosmer hit a two-run home run and Brayan Pena added a solo shot for Kansas City, which had its two-game winning streak halted and fell to 2-5 against Cleveland this season.

Royals starter Nate Adcock (0-3) lasted only 2 1/3 innings and was charged with five runs - four earned - on six hits. He was sent to Triple-A Omaha after the game.

Hosmer snapped a 26-game homerless drought to stake Kansas City to a 2-0 lead in the second, but Chisenhall, who was recalled from the minors for Monday's game, led off the third with a homer.

Kipnis added a two-run single and Lopez and Casey Kotchman had RBI singles in the frame for a 5-2 lead that the Indians would not relinquish.
