Indians 12, Angels 3: Michael Brantley and Casey Kotchman each homered and drove in three runs as Cleveland chased Ervin Santana early and routed visiting Los Angeles to take two of three in the matchup of American League playoff contenders.

The Indians' 12 runs were their most since a 13-7 win at Kansas City on April 15.

Brantley started the outburst with a three-run blast in the first - his second of the season. Cleveland added six runs in the second, chasing Santana with just one out.

Santana (4-9) retired just four of the 13 batters he faced, and only 33 of his 58 pitches were strikes. He was charged with eight runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Indians starter Derek Lowe (8-6) scattered 11 hits, allowing three runs over six innings to win for just the second time in nine starts.

Asdrubal Cabrera added two hits and two RBIs for Cleveland while Johnny Damon went 3-for-4 and scored twice for his first three-hit game of the season.

Mark Trumbo went 3-for-4 and Maicer Izturis drove in two runs for the Angels.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Angels lost their first road series since dropping two of three at San Diego from May 18-20. … Brantley has hit safely in 36 of his last 39 starts. … Damon threw out Albert Pujols trying to stretch a single into a double for his first outfield assist since 2010, when he had two - both against the Angels. … The Indians improved to 34-2 when leading after six innings.
