Royals 6, Angels 3: Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas each homered for visiting Kansas City, while Luke Hochevar stifled the Los Angeles lineup for six-plus innings.

Jeff Francoeur added two hits and two RBIs for the Royals, who rebounded from a 5-0 opening-night loss to the Angels on Friday. Francoeur’s first-inning single off Los Angeles starter Dan Haren (0-1) scored Lorenzo Cain and Hosmer.

Hosmer and Moustakas hit solo homers off Haren in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively. Haren allowed 11 hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Albert Pujols recorded his first hit as an Angel – a double – in the fourth, but he was thrown out at home by Alex Gordon on Kendrys Morales’ single.

Hochevar (1-0) was splendid until tiring in the seventh. The right-hander gave up five hits and two runs in 6 1/3 innings. Hochevar walked two and struck out four.

Los Angeles scored twice in the seventh. Bobby Abreu’s double to right scored Morales, who had four of the Angels' nine hits. Torii Hunter scored on Vernon Wells’ groundout.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Royals have beaten the Angels in eight of their past 12 matchups. … Haren came in with a lifetime ERA of 1.91 in eight starts against Kansas City. … Abreu, who hit just .127 in spring training, started in left field after not playing Friday. … Saturday marked the 1,000th game of Francoeur’s career.
