Twins 5, Reds 4: Ryan Doumit tied a career high with four hits, including a solo homer, as the Twins handed host Cincinnati its fourth straight loss.

Nick Blackburn (4-4) earned the win after giving up four runs over five innings, and Glen Perkins worked around two baserunners in the ninth inning for his second save.

Chris Heisey gave the Reds an early lead with a two-run homer in the first, but Minnesota tied the game in the third and moved ahead on Doumit’s blast in the fourth. Doumit’s 12 career home runs against the Reds are the most against any opponent in the majors.

Cincinnati retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth on Scott Rolen’s two-run homer, but Homer Bailey (5-5) ran into trouble in the sixth.

Bailey loaded the bases before he was replaced by Bill Bray, who walked in a run and allowed Jamey Carroll to score the go-ahead run on Ben Revere’s sacrifice fly.

Revere had four hits and two stolen bases for the Twins, who won for just the third time in their last nine games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Home plate umpire Jerry Layne left the game in the fourth inning after being hit on side of his head by the barrel of a broken bat. … Twins C Joe Mauer walked as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning after missing the last three games with a bruised right quadriceps. … Doumit improved to 8-for-16 lifetime against Bailey. …Twins closer Matt Capps was unavailable because of shoulder inflammation that has kept him out of action since June 16.
