Rockies 4, Brewers 3: Pinch hitter Michael Cuddyer's RBI single broke a 3-3 tie with one out in the top of the ninth inning as visiting Colorado began a six-game road trip with its third straight victory.

Pinch hitter Jason Giambi led off the ninth with a bloop single to left off closer John Axford (0-1) and pinch runner Eric Young Jr. advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw. Marco Scutaro moved Young to third with a deep fly to right before Cuddyer lined a 1-1 pitch up the middle.

Matt Reynolds and Matt Belisle (1-0) combined to pitch a scoreless eighth and Rafael Betancourt worked around a one-out double by Mat Gamel in the ninth for his fourth save in four chances.

Colorado's Jhoulys Chacin allowed three runs, four hits and struck out six in seven innings while Milwaukee's Shaun Marcum yielded three runs and eight hits in six innings.

After Marcum retired the first two batters, Colorado took a 1-0 lead when Carlos Gonzalez singled and scored on Troy Tulowitzki's double.

Chacin helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fourth before Norichika Aoki delivered an inside-the-park solo homer in the bottom half. Aoki hit a liner to left and Gonzalez failed to make a shoestring catch. The ball rolled to the wall and Aoki easily beat the throw home.

Colorado's Todd Helton hit a solo homer with one out in the sixth to make it 3-1 before Milwaukee tied it in the bottom half on two-out RBI singles by Corey Hart and Gamel.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cuddyer didn't start after he was removed from Wednesday’s 8-4 victory over San Diego when he fouled a ball off his big left toe. ... Brewers reliever Kameron Loe was available Friday but will miss three games beginning Saturday in order to attend his grandfather’s funeral. ... Colorado's Ramon Hernandez had two hits, but was thrown out at the plate twice - in the fourth and sixth.
