Angels 6, Mariners 4:
Howard Kendrick delivered a two-run tiebreaking single in the ninth as visiting Los Angeles rallied for its fourth straight victory.

Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer earlier in the contest as the Angels recovered from a four-run deficit to beat Seattle for the second straight night.

Scott Downs pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save.

Seattle received a homer and four RBIs from Justin Smoak and was three outs away from a victory before closer Brandon League (0-4) melted down in the ninth.

Mark Trumbo singled to start the inning and Alberto Callaspo walked. Erick Aybar laid down a bunt and League fielded but threw wildly to third to allow pinch runner Peter Bourjos to score the tying run.

After an intentional walk to load the bases, Kendrick followed with a blistering hit up the middle to put the Angels ahead.

Jason Isringhausen (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth for the Angels.

Smoak drove in a first-inning run with a fielder’s choice and singled home a run in third before lining a two-run shot to right off Ervin Santana to give the Mariners a 4-0 lead.

Pujols homered off Blake Beavan in the sixth. John Hester singled and Maicer Izturis walked before Pujols hammered a shot over the right-center field fence for his third homer in four games.

Beavan allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings. Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a scoreless eighth.

Santana allowed four runs and four hits in five innings. He walked seven and struck out three.
