Red Sox 3, Orioles 1: Daniel Nava broke a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the seventh inning as Boston won its ninth consecutive home opener.

Clay Buchholz (2-0) worked seven scoreless innings, limiting Baltimore to three hits while striking out eight and walking four in improving to 6-1 against the Orioles since the start of the 2009 season.

Andrew Bailey pitched a perfect eighth before closer Joel Hanrahan earned his third save despite giving up a leadoff homer to Adam Jones and a two-out double to J.J. Hardy in the ninth. Boston sent Baltimore to its third straight defeat and extended the longest active winning streak in the majors for home openers.

Orioles left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (0-1) was a hard-luck loser, surrendering three runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. He suffered his first loss in four career starts versus the Red Sox and remained winless in his last nine regular-season outings.

Chen carried a two-hit shutout into the seventh but ran into trouble when Dustin Pedroia led off with a single and Mike Napoli followed with a double to put runners at second and third. One out later, Nava hammered a fastball over the Green Monster seats in left for a 3-0 lead and an abrupt end to Chen's day.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Orioles 1B Chris Davis was named the AL Player of the Week on Monday. Davis, who batted .455 with the four home runs and 17 RBIs, also shared the award in the final week of the 2012 season. ... Red Sox RH John Lackey, who suffered a biceps strain in Saturday's game, is "unlikely" to make his scheduled next start Friday, Red Sox manager John Farrell said. ... Boston DH David Ortiz (heels) was scheduled to see action in an intrasquad game in Florida on Monday and remain there for three days with the hope of moving to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday.
