Royals 6, Orioles 2: Alex Gordon homered for the third straight game and Jeremy Guthrie won in his return to Camden Yards as Kansas City avoided a sweep.

Guthrie (5-0), who won 47 games with Baltimore from 2007-11, allowed two runs - one earned - in six innings to extend his own franchise record of unbeaten starts to 18. The home run Guthrie gave up to Chris Davis in the fourth was the first earned run he had allowed in 19 2/3 innings.

Orioles starter Freddy Garcia (0-1) retired the first 10 men he faced before Lorenzo Cain singled ahead of Gordon's sixth home run. Billy Butler followed with a single and Eric Hosmer made it 4-1 with a blast over the wall in left-center, his first homer in 44 games dating to last season.

After Davis' 10th of the year cut Baltimore's deficit to 4-2, Mike Moustakas answered with a solo shot of his own in the seventh to put the Royals up three. Salvador Perez added an RBI single in the eighth to cap the scoring.

Adam Jones reached on Alcides Escobar's third error in two games to lead off the second and scored on J.J. Hardy's base hit to right to give the Orioles a short-lived 1-0 lead. Hardy is 8-for-22 with three homers and six RBIs during a six-game hitting streak.
