Red Sox 3, Rays 1: Jonny Gomes belted a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as as host Boston completed a doubleheader sweep.

Felix Doubront allowed three hits in a career-high eight scoreless innings and Daniel Nava added a solo homer as the Red Sox improved to 9-2 against Tampa Bay this season and opened a 2 1/2-game lead atop the American League East.

Doubront threw only 93 pitches and retired the final 17 batters he faced, but closer Andrew Bailey (3-0) coughed up a tying blast to Kelly Johnson leading off the ninth for his third blown save in 11 chances.

The Red Sox came right back against Joel Peralta (1-3) in the bottom of the inning when Nava drew a leadoff walk and Gomes followed with a high drive down the left-field line into the Green Monster seats. It was the third career walk-off homer for Gomes and his third blast in nine at-bats against Peralta.

Nava swatted his 10th homer with one out in the second inning off rookie right-hander Jake Odorizzi, who also turned in his longest outing in his third career start, giving up one run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Red Sox SS Jose Iglesias extended his hitting streak to 18 games, tying Alex Rios of the Chicago White Sox for the longest in the American League this season. ... Rays RF Wil Myers, named the Minor League Player of the Year by Baseball American in 2012, got his first career hit in the nightcap. He was 0-for-4 in the opener in his major-league debut. ... The Red Sox made a flurry of roster moves between the two games of the doubleheader, placing RHP Clay Buchholz (neck) on the 15-day disabled list and C David Ross on the 7-day concussion list while recalling C Ryan Lavarnway and Alex Wilson from Triple-A Pawtucket.
