Cubs 7, Mariners 6: Anthony Rizzo had two hits and two RBIs to help Chicago beat host Seattle and claim the three-game series.

Alfonso Soriano went 2-for-5 and scored twice and Darwin Barney also had two hits for the Cubs. Edwin Jackson (4-10) gave up three runs and seven hits in six-plus innings to improve to 4-0 in four career starts against the Mariners.

Seattle made an eighth-inning charge that included a solo homer by Raul Ibanez and a two-run blast by Kyle Seager before Kevin Gregg pitched a flawless ninth for his 13th save in 14 opportunities.

Rizzo, Brian Bogusevic and Barney each had run-scoring doubles off Jeremy Bonderman (1-2) in a three-run second and Rizzo had a run-scoring single to cap a four-run fourth inning. Starlin Castro had a run-scoring single and Soriano had an RBI double in a frame that ended with Chicago leading 7-1.

Nick Franklin drove in his second run of the game with a fifth-inning single and Jason Bay homered in the seventh to pull the Mariners within 7-3.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bonderman allowed six runs (four earned) and six hits in 3 1/3 innings. … Cubs OF Ryan Sweeney suffered a broken rib colliding with the fence on Saturday and will be sidelined four to six weeks. … Ibanez hit 10 homers in June – second-best in the majors behind Baltimore’s Chris Davis (12).
