Yankees 3, Twins 2: CC Sabathia tossed seven solid innings to record his 200th career victory and Robinson Cano continued his torrid stretch with a two-run double as visiting New York won its third in a row.

Cano's streak of six straight multi-hit contests coincides with his run-scoring stretch as well. Cano, who went 2-for-3, is 14-for-24 with 10 RBIs and nine runs scored during this streak.

Lyle Overbay plated Cano with a sacrifice fly in a three-run sixth inning for the Yankees, who have won 30 of their last 37 meetings with the Twins.

Sabathia (9-6) yielded two runs on seven hits and struck out nine to secure his ninth consecutive victory over Minnesota. David Robertson bridged the gap to Mariano Rivera, who retired the side in the ninth for his 28th save while handing the Twins their fourth straight loss and ninth in 12 outings.

P.J. Walters (2-5) allowed just one hit over five innings before getting roughed up in the sixth. Brett Gardner got aboard and advanced to third on Ichiro Suzuki's double into the right-field corner. Cano belted a 1-2 slider into right to plate both runners before coming around to score on Overbay's fly ball to center.

GAME NOTEBOOK: After C Joe Mauer's RBI double opened the scoring in the third inning, 3B Trevor Plouffe gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead in the fifth by drilling a first-pitch sinker from Sabathia to straightaway center field. The ball glanced off the top of the wall before going over for his eighth homer. ... New York signed free-agent SS Luis Cruz to fill the spot of INF Jayson Nix, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Cruz made a throwing error in the third inning and went 0-for-3 at the plate. ... Minnesota LF Oswaldo Arcia denied Cruz of an extra-base hit in the fifth inning with a leaping catch near the wall.
