Johan Camargo's two-run two-out single in the seventh inning capped a five-run Atlanta rally and helped boost the Braves to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday at SunTrust Park.
The win allowed the Braves (86-68) to extend their lead in the National League East to 7 1/2 games over the Phillies (78-75). Atlanta lowered its magic number to two.
The Phillies broke open a 1-1 tie by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh, but Atlanta surged back for its 35th comeback victory.
Ozzie Albies hit a two-run homer, his 23rd, to start the seventh-inning rally, and Ender Inciarte doubled home pinch runner Lane Adams to tie the game. After an intentional walk to Freddie Freeman to load the bases, Camargo lined a single that scored Inciarte and Ronald Acuna Jr. to put the Braves ahead.
The comeback got Acuna off the hook. In the top of the seventh, he misplayed Wilson Ramos' fly ball into a two-run double that opened the door to a three-run rally. Acuna broke in on a ball, which sailed over his head and allowed a pair to score. Ex-Brave Jose Bautista followed with a line-drive single to left to account for the third run of the inning against Atlanta starter Julio Teheran.
The Phillies struck for a run against closer A.J. Minter in the ninth. Jorge Alfaro tripled off the brick wall in right and scored on Maikel Franco's single. Minter struck out Roman Quinn looking to end the game and earn his 15th save.
Jonny Venters (5-1) was the winning pitcher after getting the final two outs of the top of the seventh.
The losing pitcher was Pat Neshek (3-2), who was charged with four runs in one-third of an inning.
Philadelphia starter Nick Pivetta gave up one run on four hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.
Teheran allowed four runs on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out five. Teheran did a masterful job in the sixth when he allowed a leadoff triple to pinch hitter J.P. Crawford and retired the next three hitters to prevent a run.
The Phillies opened the game with a leadoff homer by Cesar Hernandez, his 14th. It was his seventh career leadoff home run, the third of the season.
Atlanta tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning when Freeman singled home Acuna.
