Antonio Senzatela came off the injured list to hold the Padres to one run over 6 2/3 innings, and Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond homered Monday night as the visiting Colorado Rockies defeated San Diego 5-2 in the opener of a two-game series.

Desmond, who entered the game hitting .140, drove in three of the Rockies' runs with a two-run double in the second and a homer leading off the seventh against left-handed Padres starter Joey Lucchesi (2-2).

Arenado hit his second homer of the season in the sixth, a solo shot.

Senzatela (1-0) was making his first start of the season after going on the injured list in spring training with an infected blister on his right heel. Right-hander Wade Davis got the game's final out to record the Rockies' first save of the season.

Senzatela, 24, gave up only six hits and a walk with four strikeouts. The only run he yielded was an opposite-field homer hit by Franmil Reyes in the fourth inning to reduce Colorado's lead to 2-1. The 376-foot line drive was Reyes' fourth homer of the season.

Colorado's Trevor Story opened the second with a single and advanced to second on a walk. Desmond followed with a one-out double that glanced off the glove of a diving Reyes in right.

Arenado's 408-foot homer to left-center in the sixth made it 3-1.

In the seventh inning, Drew Butera immediately followed Desmond's first homer of the season with a double into the left field corner. He was sacrificed to third by Senzatela's bunt and scored on Charlie Blackmon's groundout to first.

Lucchesi gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. He became the first Padres pitcher to pitch seven innings this season.

Wil Myers opened the bottom of the ninth with a 428-foot homer to right center off Rockies reliever Scott Oberg. It was Myers' fourth homer of the season and the 100th of his career.

The win was the second straight for the Rockies while the Padres took their second loss in a row.
