Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit his second career grand slam to lead a four-homer barrage and the Toronto Blue Jays completed a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Texas Rangers with a 10-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Buffalo, N.Y.
Randal Grichuk added a two-run home run and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer each had solo shots for the Blue Jays who swept the three-game series.
The Blue Jays, who won the first game of the doubleheader 5-0, and took the season series between the teams 4-2.
The doubleheader of seven-inning games was scheduled after rain postponed the game scheduled for Saturday.
Toronto left-hander Steven Matz (8-4) allowed three hits and no walks while striking out two in five innings.
Texas right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (2-9) allowed 10 runs, eight hits (four home runs) and two walks in 1 2/3 innings.
Toronto scored six runs in the first on five hits and a walk. Teoscar Hernandez had an RBI double, Grichuk had an RBI infield single and Gurriel hit his 11th home run of the season, two of them grand slams.
The Blue Jays scored four runs on three home runs in the second inning, all with two out. Guerrero hit his 31st of the season and Springer followed with his sixth. Hernandez walked and Grichuk hit his 18th homer of the season. Taylor Hearn replaced Foltynewicz and pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings.
Demarcus Evans tossed a clean fourth inning with two strikeouts and pitched around a fifth-inning walk. Texas called him up from Triple-A Round Rock as the 27th man for the doubleheader.
Matz pitched around a leadoff double in the first inning and leadoff singles in the third and fifth.
Rafael Dolis replaced Matz and worked around a sixth-inning walk. Spencer Patton struck out the side for Texas in the bottom of the sixth.
Tayler Saucedo pitched a perfect seventh.
The Blue Jays will play a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox Monday that will end their stay at Buffalo. They will resume playing home games at Toronto on July 30 for the first time since 2019 because of COVID-19 restrictions.
