Justyn-Henry Malloy drove in the tying run and Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Yohan Ramirez made two errors in the ninth as the host Detroit Tigers staged a late rally for the second straight game to pull out a 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers erased a 3-2 deficit in the ninth, one day after wiping out a five-run deficit in the ninth on Saturday before claiming an 11-9, extra-inning win.
Alex Faedo (4-1) picked up the win Sunday for Detroit, which has won eight of its last 10 games.
Freddie Freeman, Miguel Rojas and Gavin Lux drew walks in the ninth to load the bases. Faedo struck out Chris Taylor to escape that jam.
In the bottom of the inning, Zach McKinstry hit an 0-2 pitch for a leadoff triple against Ramirez (0-5). Malloy then smacked a single to center, scoring McKinstry with the tying run.
Ramirez made his first error on Ryan Vilade's bunt attempt, putting runners on first and second. Wenceel Perez then attempted to move up the runners with another bunt and Ramirez made an errant throw to third, allowing Malloy to score the game-winning run.
Los Angeles was held scoreless after the first inning. Dodgers starting pitcher Brent Honeywell gave up only one hit in three innings.
The Dodgers scored three runs against Tigers opener Beau Brieske. Will Smith had a one-out double and Teoscar Hernandez brought him home with another double. Andy Pages knocked in Hernandez with a single.
Rojas reached on an infield hit and both runners advanced on an error by McKinstry at shortstop. Rojas was caught stealing but Pages scored before Rojas was tagged out.
The Tigers scored a run in the fourth off Ryan Yarbrough. Colt Keith led off with a single and moved to third on Matt Vierling's double. Carson Kelly drew a one-out walk to load the bases and Gio Urshela scored Keith with a sacrifice fly.
The Tigers cut Los Angeles' lead to 3-2 in the sixth. Riley Greene drew a leadoff walk, then advanced on a single by Kelly and a long fly ball by Urshela. Greene scored on McKinstry's fielder's choice grounder.
