Tony Gonsolin, pitching in the majors for the first time since August 2023, struck out nine as the host Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins 12-7 on Wednesday afternoon to complete a three-game sweep.

Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead Los Angeles' offense. On a day when Marlins outfielders struggled defensively, the Dodgers hit three triples and two homers.

Gonsolin (1-0), who had elbow surgery on Sept. 1, 2023, allowed three runs on six hits and didn't issue a walk in six innings as the Dodgers ran their winning streak to five. They open a 10-game road trip on Friday against the Atlanta Braves.

Kyle Stowers led Miami, going 4-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBIs. He had a two-run homer, a solo shot, an RBI double and a single. Stowers previously had not posted a two-homer or four-hit game in the majors.

Miami starter Cal Quantrill (2-3) gave up four runs on six hits and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.

The Dodgers opened the scoring in the second as Max Muncy bombed a 433-foot solo homer to center. It was his first homer of the year.

Los Angeles made it 4-0 in the third on Betts' two-run single and Andy Pages' RBI single.

Miami cut its deficit to 4-2 in the fourth as Eric Wagaman singled and jogged home on Stowers' 423-foot dinger to center.

In the sixth, Miami made it 4-3 as Agustin Ramirez scored from first when Stowers' double got past the diving effort of Pages in center field.

The Dodgers blew the game open with a four-run sixth. Miami could have put up a scoreless inning when Betts - with two outs -- hit a high fly ball to center field.

Jesus Sanchez, normally a right fielder, lost track of the ball, which caromed off the bottom of the wall for a two-run triple. Freddie Freeman followed with a two-run homer for an 8-3 Dodgers lead.

The Dodgers made it 9-3 in the seventh as Stowers lost a fly ball in the sun, resulting in a triple by Muncy. He then scored on Enrique Hernandez's single.

Los Angeles scored three more runs in the eighth. The inning featured a leadoff triple by Shohei Ohtani, who scored on a wild pitch. Teoscar Hernandez and Enrique Hernandez add RBI hits.

Miami scored four runs in the ninth on Stowers' second homer of the day and Liam Hicks' three-run double.
