Jordan Williams scored 15 points, and Maryland used a stifling defense to overpower Penn State 62-39 Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The Terrapins (6-2) trailed in the opening minutes, but took a 26-20 halftime lead. A Talor Battle 3-pointer to open the second half had the Nittany Lions within three, but Maryland held Penn State scoreless for more than four minutes.

Penn State's previous low in points this season came in a 64-49 victory over Fairfield on Nov. 19.

The Nittany Lions had no answer for Williams, who also had 11 rebounds. The only place he could be contained was at the foul line, where he went 3 for 9.

Sean Mosley, Dino Gregory and Terrell Stoglin scored 10 points apiece for Maryland, which has won three straight going into its road test Sunday at Temple.
