Malcolm Grant scored 26 points and Miami-Florida rallied from a 13-point deficit to knock off visiting West Virginia 79-76 Saturday afternoon.

Grant went 13-of-14 from the free-throw line, including a pair from the stripe with six seconds left to close out the scoring.

The Mountaineers were unable to get off a shot to tie the game as Casey Mitchell couldn’t handle a pass at the 3-point line. Miami recovered the loose ball as the buzzer sounded.

Reggie Johnson, who played the final 15 minutes of the game with four fouls, had six crucial points down the stretch for the Hurricanes. Johnson gave Miami a 68-66 lead with 2:23 to play with a layup.

Miami (6-2) then went ahead by five points, but Mitchell kept the Mountaineers close with a pair of 3-pointers. The Hurricanes then put the game away hitting nine of their final 10 free throws.

West Virginia (5-2) held a 54-41 lead with 12 minutes left, but Grant was key in bringing the Hurricanes back. Grant, who went 2-of-13 against Ole Miss in his last game, converted a three-point play to bring the Hurricanes to within a point at 64-63 with 4:47 to play and then nailed a 3-pointer on the next possession to provide a three-point edge. He finished 5-of-9 from the line, including 3-of-6 from the arc.

Darryl Bryant led West Virginia with 20 points and Mitchell added 18.
