Darius Morris led the way with 12 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 11 as Michigan shook off a slow start to take down North Carolina Central 64-44 Tuesday.
The Wolverines took a 23-19 lead into the break after a sloppy first half that saw them shoot 28.6 percent from the field, including 2 for 16 from 3-point range. Luckily for them, North Carolina Central shot 7 for 23 (30.4 percent) from the floor.
Michigan (8-2) had an easier go of it in the second half as it shot 54 percent and stretched the lead to as much as 59-34 on Hardaway’s 3-pointer with 4:18 left. The Eagles’ struggles from the field continued as they finished 14 for 46 from the floor (30 percent) and 4 for 16 from beyond the arc.
Jon Horford had nine points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Wolverines, who have won five straight and will play two more non-conference games at home before hosting No. 17 Purdue on Dec. 28 in their Big Ten opener.
