JaJuan Johnson led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds and D.J. Byrd added 15 points as No. 13 Purdue cruised past IUPU-Fort Wayne, 77-52, Tuesday.

The Boilermakers (11-1) shot 53.4 percent from the floor and recorded assists on 25 of their 31 field goals.

IPFW (7-4) kept it close through most of the first half until Purdue pulled away in the last few minutes, closing the period on a 6-0 run to take a 31-22 lead into the break. The Mastodons went without a point over the last 4:21.

IPFW scored the first two points of the second half, but the Boilermakers poured in the next 13 to open the lead to 44-24. Johnson and E'Twaun Moore combined for all but two during that spurt and Purdue was never threatened the rest of the way.

The Boilermakers open their Big Ten slate at Michigan on December 28 and will ease into the conference with a home date against Northwestern after that. Purdue won’t face another team currently ranked in the top 25 until visiting Minnesota on January 13.

Oleg Kovalov scored 13 points for the Mastodons, who have dropped two in a row following a six-game winning streak.
