Jared Cunningham was just one of several stars for the Oregon State bench, as the Beavers had an impressive Pac-10 debut in a 80-58 victory over Arizona State on Thursday night at Gill Coliseum.

Cunningham, who is among the nation’s leader in steals, scored a team-high 16 points with six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one blocked shot. Joe Burton also came off the bench for OSU (6-6, 1-0) to score a team-high 17 points. Overall, OSU’s reserves outscored ASU’s by a dominating 49-22 margin.

Senior guard Ty Abbott led the Sun Devils with 18 points and four rebounds. ASU (7-5, 0-1) held a 23-19 lead in the first half with 6:46 remaining, but the Beavers closed the half with a 15-7 run to take a 34-30 halftime lead.

The Beavers would keep the Sun Devils at bay through the entire second half, never letting ASU getting within two points. OSU closed the final seven minutes strong, outscoring the Sun Devils 14-4. Up next for the Beavers is a Sunday home date against Arizona, which was a 76-57 winner at Oregon on Thursday..
