Colorado survived a video replay of a near buzzer-beater and a rare off night from Alec Burks to defeat Kansas State 58-56 on Saturday night.

Rodney McGruder made a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Wildcats an apparent victory, but video replays showed the shot was released a split second after the clock hit 0.0.

Burks, the leading scorer in the Big 12, struggled with foul trouble and eight points on 3-of-13 shooting. He had a game-high 10 rebounds, though, as the Buffaloes (16-10, 5-6) made 11 of their last 15 shots from the field and swept the season series from Kansas State for the first time since 2004.

Jacob Pullen scored nine of his 12 points in the final 9:48 for the Wildcats (16-9, 4-6), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Burks’ steal and basket with 25.1 seconds left made it 56-53. Pullen followed with a driving layup with 13.2 seconds to got, and after Colorado’s Levi Knutson made two free throws, the Buffaloes fouled Pullen with 3.9 seconds left.

Pullen made the first and intentionally missed the second. The ball was knocked out of bounds by Colorado with 1.1 seconds left, which set the stage for McGruder’s shot.

Knutson finished with 16 points and five rebounds while Cory Higgins had 17 points, including 9-for-10 from the free-throw line for Colorado, which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Kansas State’s Curtis Kelly, who was under investigation this week for violating a school policy but was cleared to play, was a non-factor with five points and six rebounds in 23 minutes.

Colorado finished 18 for 22 from the line; Kansas State was 18 for 31.

Both teams play Kansas next as the Jayhawks visit Kansas State on Monday and host Colorado on Feb. 19.
