California broke open a close game late in the first half and blew out Georgia 70-46 in the semifinals of the Progressive CBE Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., on Monday.

The No. 18 Golden Bears earn a date against No. 21 Missouri on Tuesday in the championship game. Georgia will face Notre Dame in the third-place game.

There were four ties and three lead changes before the floodgates opened for Cal (4-0). The Golden Bears finished the first half on a 14-0 run to take a 36-25 lead into the break. It’s not the first time Cal finished the opening stanza in a resounding manner. The Golden Bears went on similar runs against George Washington and Austin Peay during the first week of the season.

Cal kept the momentum going in the second half, though. After David Kravish blocked a shot under Georgia’s basket and Allen Crabbe hit a 3-pointer at the other end, the Bears enjoyed a commanding 61-35 lead with less than seven minutes to go in the game. The Golden Bears’ dominant second half included another stretch of 14 unanswered points, and Cal led by as many as 28 in the final minutes.

Harper Kamp hit all six of his shots from the floor as part of a team-high 16-point effort for Cal. Jorge Gutierrez added 14 points and seven rebounds. Justin Cobbs came off the bench to score 10 points.

Playing its first game away from home this season, Georgia (3-1) shot only 31.5 percent from the field and also got beat by a 35-22 margin on the boards. Freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the Bulldogs with 10 points, but he scored only two after halftime.
