Jordan Theodore scored all 19 of his points in the second half and added 11 assists as host Seton Hall knocked off No. 8 Connecticut, 75-63, on Tuesday.
Fuquan Edwin recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds and Herb Pope chipped in 15 and eight for the Pirates (13-2, 2-1 Big East).
Seton Hall looks as though it might belong among the Big East elite following dominating home wins over West Virginia and the Huskies. The Pirates will not face another ranked opponent until hosting Louisville on Jan. 28.
Connecticut jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead on Tuesday but quickly fell apart against the Pirates’ zone defense. Seton Hall outscored the Huskies 33-11 the rest of the way and forced 16 first-half turnovers to take a 35-22 lead into the locker room.
Connecticut attempted to make a run in the second, pulling to within 46-36 with 12:24 left. But Theodore buried three 3-pointers over the next 2 ½ minutes and freshman Aaron Cosby hit another to stretch it back out.
Jeremy Lamb scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting for the Huskies but the rest of the team was just 13 of 43 (30 percent) from the floor. Coach Jim Calhoun watched from home while serving the final game of a three-game suspension.
