Stanford 84, Nevada 56: Josh Owens and Chasson Randle led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points apiece and the Cardinal dominated the Wolf Pack in the quarterfinals of the NIT.
Stanford (24-11) improved to 17-3 at home and will meet Massachusetts in Tuesday's semifinals at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Massachusetts beat Drexel 72-70 in the quarterfinals Tuesday.
Malik Story scored 14 points and Deonte Burton added 13 for Nevada (28-7), which trailed 42-27 at halftime.
Stanford shot 65.4 percent from the field in the first half and was never threatened. Four players scored in double figures for the Cardinal, including Josh Huestis (12) and Aaron Bright (10).
Stanford, which used a 20-2 run to lead 81-49 with three minutes to play, outrebounded the Wolf Pack 33-28 and shot 53.4 percent overall.
Olek Czyz had 11 points and eight rebounds for Nevada, which lost for only the fourth time in its last 29 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford is only the fourth team to play at Madison Square Garden in the preseason and postseason NIT during the same season. … Stanford won the NIT title in 1991 against Oklahoma. … Burton, the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was 3-of-10 shooting. … Stanford leads the all-time series with Nevada 21-9 and has won six in a row.
