: Freshman center Mike Tobey scored a game-high 17 points off the bench as the Cavaliers put 44 points on the board in the first half and routed the visiting Redhawks.

Virginia's Akil Mitchell had 14 points and 16 rebounds, while freshman Taylor Barnette recorded a career-high eight points. Another freshman, Justin Anderson, scored 11.

The Virginia defense held Seattle to just 25 percent (15-of-59) shooting from the field while finishing with a 38-25 rebounding advantage.

Seattle (1-1) allowed Virginia to open the game on a 21-3 run and trailed 44-13 at halftime after scoring just two points in the half's final seven minutes.

Guard Sterling Carter, who averaged 18 points in two previous meetings against the Cavaliers, was held to zero first-half points and finished with eight. Deshaun Sunderhaus chipped in nine to lead Seattle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series.
