No. 10 Gonzaga 78, Pepperdine 62: Elias Harris scored 18 points and Kelly Olynyk had 16 as the visiting Bulldogs opened West Coast Conference play by defeating the Waves for the 23rd straight time.

David Stockton chipped in nine points and six steals for the Bulldogs (14-1, 1-0 WCC), who closed the game on a 37-21 run. Gonzaga had 16 assists against just eight turnovers in improving upon its best start as a Division I team.

Lorne Jackson scored 16 points and Jordan Baker added 15 to pace Pepperdine (8-6, 0-1). They combined to take 11 of the Waves' 12 3-pointers, making just two of them.

The Bulldogs trailed by as many as eight points early on, but held Pepperdine without a field goal for the final seven minutes of the first half and carried a 30-26 lead into the break. The Waves reclaimed the lead for a brief moment after halftime but Kevin Pangos hit a 3-pointer with 13:53 left to spark an 8-0 run and give Gonzaga the lead for good.

Pangos, who was held scoreless in the first half, added another from beyond the arc with 7:14 to go to make it 57-47. The Bulldogs hit 24 of their last 25 free throws to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gonzaga's last loss in the series was at Pepperdine on Jan. 18, 2002. ... The Bulldogs entered ranked second nationally in field goal percentage (51.8). Their 43.4 percent mark was a season low. ... Jackson has scored in double figures in all 16 games this season.
