No. 6 Arizona 74, Southern California 50: Nick Johnson scored 14 points and Solomon Hill added 13 as the host Wildcats routed the Trojans in Pac-12 play.

Brandon Ashley added 11 points and Kaleb Tarczewski had 10 as Arizona (17-2, 5-2 Pac-12) rebounded from a shaky effort in Thursday’s loss to UCLA by jumping out to a 22-point lead over the first 12-plus minutes.

Jio Fontan tallied nine points for USC (8-13, 3-5). The Trojans were just 18-of-62 from the field (29 percent) and committed 16 turnovers while dropping to 1-3 under interim coach Bob Cantu.

The Wildcats led 12-2 after 5 1/2 minutes and used an 11-0 run to take a 29-7 lead on Hill’s layup with 7:57 left in the half. The Trojans were 2-of-19 from the field at that point.

Arizona led 39-20 at halftime and steadily boosted the lead with Johnson’s layup making it 58-27 midway through the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC’s starting five was 7-of-37 from the field. … Arizona had beaten the Trojans four straight times and 22 of the last 32. … USC was shooting 19.1 percent midway through the second half before making nine of its final 15 shots.
