No. 7 Arizona 73, Stanford 66: Mark Lyons scored a season-high 25 points and Solomon Hill added 23 as the Wildcats edged the visiting Cardinal in a key Pac-12 matchup.
Arizona used a 9-0 run to take a 58-54 lead with 3:38 remaining before Aaron Bright answered with his fourth 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one. The Wildcats (20-2, 8-2 Pac-12) quickly took control with an 11-4 run to secure their fourth straight win.
Dwight Powell had 24 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (14-9, 5-5), which scored the first 10 points and led by one at halftime. Bright finished with 16 points and Josh Huestis added 10 points and 10 boards.
Arizona took its first lead at 38-37 with 14:35 left, and neither team was able to pull away until Hill scored with 1:08 remaining to give the Wildcats their biggest lead at 67-61.
Lyons had six assists and was 9-for-13 shooting for Arizona, which took a half-game lead over Oregon in the Pac-12. The Wildcats snapped Stanford’s three-game winning streak while shooting 60 percent in the second half and 46.3 percent overall.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Stanford, which entered the game leading the conference in 3-point shooting at 44.9 percent in Pac-12 games, shot 36.8 percent against the Wildcats. …Arizona received a spark from seldom-used F Angelo Chol, who had six points and eight rebounds. … The Wildcats won despite shooting 68 percent from the foul line.
