Virginia 76, North Carolina State 45: Joe Harris and Mike Tobey scored 16 points apiece as the Cavaliers annihilated the host Wolfpack in ACC play.

Malcolm Brodgon tallied 13 points as Virginia (12-4, 3-0) built a 35-11 lead over the first 12 1/2 minutes and led comfortably the remainder of the contest. Akil Mitchell grabbed 12 rebounds to help the Cavaliers win their first three conference games for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign.

Desmond Lee and Ralston Turner scored 10 points apiece for North Carolina State (11-5, 1-2), which shot just 28.9 percent from the field, committed 16 turnovers and was outrebounded 40-28. Wolfpack standout T.J. Warren tallied a season-low four points on 1-of-9 shooting.

Virginia began pulling away with a 29-7 burst to take the 24-point first-half lead. Harris scored 14 points as the Cavaliers shot 60 percent from the field in the half to lead 48-25 lead at the break.

The Cavaliers missed eight straight shots at one point in the second half and still led by 22 before the cold spell ended. The advantage was increased to 68-36 on Anthony Gill’s dunk with just over five minutes remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia was just 11-of-32 shooting in the second half to finish at 46.8 percent. … Warren had led the Wolfpack in scoring in 11 consecutive games prior to the poor outing. … The Cavaliers have held six opponents to less than 50 points while North Carolina State posted its lowest point total of the season.
