Oregon 78, USC 66: Joseph Young had 21 points and a season-high six steals as the Ducks eased away from the visiting Trojans in the second half.

Jason Calliste added 18 points off the bench for Oregon (15-6, 3-6 Pac-12), which had lost six of seven coming in after rising as high as No. 9 in the coaches’ poll. Mike Moser bounced back from a scoreless effort Thursday against UCLA and scored 13 points for the Ducks.

Byron Wesley scored 19 points and J.T. Terrell had 15 for USC (10-12, 1-8). Omar Oraby finished with 10 points and Pe’Shon Howard contributed eight points but accounted for seven of his team’s 22 turnovers.

USC led by as much as six in the opening minutes before Damyean Dotson scored on a layup off USC’s ninth turnover in just under 13 minutes to give Oregon its biggest lead of the first half 25-20. The Trojans eventually surged back ahead with a 6-0 burst and took a 38-34 advantage into the half.

USC continued to stick with the Ducks in the second half until a 12-0 run by the hosts gave Oregon a 56-44 lead with 10 1/2 minutes left. That seemed to finally take the air out of the Trojans, who didn’t get closer than eight the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC shot 49 percent from the field and Oregon shot 40.3, improving the Ducks to 3-6 this season when they’re outshot by their opponent. … The Ducks shot 22-for-30 from the free-throw line after entering the game tied with Providence for the top free-throw percentage in the nation (78.5). … Young has 11 steals in his last two games.
