Connecticut 75, Central Florida 55: Shabazz Napier and Lasan Kromah each scored 17 points to lead the visiting Huskies over the Knights in American Athletic Conference play.
Napier and Kromah combined for 14 rebounds, seven assists and seven steals for Connecticut (18-5, 6-4), which has won four of its last five. DeAndre Daniels scored 16 points, Ryan Boatright compiled 11 points and pulled down four boards and Phillip Nolan added 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting off the bench for the Huskies, who outrebounded Central Florida 42-31.
Isaiah Sykes' 17 points led the offense for the Knights (9-12, 1-9), who lost their eighth consecutive game. Freshman center Justin McBride provided a bright spot for Central Florida, coming off the bench to score the first 13 points of his career on 5-of-6 shooting.
UConn used runs of 9-0 and 10-0 in the first half to distance itself from Central Florida, which led 18-17 with just over nine minutes to go until halftime. Kromah led the Huskies with 11 points at the break, while Napier and Daniels each notched eight for a 41-24 advantage at intermission.
After the break, the Knights used an 18-8 run, capped by a Kasey Wilson 3-pointer, to trim the lead to 57-49. The Huskies answered with six straight points to end the threat and sealed the win by outscoring Central Florida 18-6 down the stretch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: UConn, which came into play shooting an AAC-best 77.3 percent from the free-throw line, converted 10-of-15 from the stripe. ... McBride had appeared in four other games this season for Central Florida, recording one block and one rebound in a total of 12 minutes. ... The Knights' losing streak is their worst since an eight-game slide in 2011.
